This was an interesting course in that it brought out some points about how women feel regarding healthcare during childbirth and after. The part about the fourth trimester really applies to all medical care that has a recovery period. For example, after surgery, you might see the surgeon twice and that's it. No one asks about pain, or how the recovery process is going. You might be told something like, you cannot lift over 10 lbs, when the reality is that lifting 1 lb or simply opening a door is painful. No one tells you about what to expect and sometimes, they don't even tell you that you will need someone to help you after you are out of the hospital until you are discharging. I had surgery and after discharge, was crawling on the floor at one point because it hurt to stand. I think that creating that sheet about what to expect is complete common sense and after my experience, I almost wrote to suggest it. Something like that can easily be generalized instead of reinventing the wheel with every department or surgery category.
